Since I came here, I have found a ton of opportunities. I didn’t even have to look around because there is just so many things that you can do. No matter what you like, there is always an option for you. I have done lots of different things, from helping the environment to feeding those that need it the most, and websites like Givepulse definitely make things so much easier.

I have had the chance to work for events like Make a Difference Day, where I got to be a Project Leader for the Volunteer Action Center, or Kiss a Pig Gala, where I volunteered to help raise money for breast cancer awareness with Gamma Eta Sorority, or Adopt a Dorm for 7Hills Homeless shelter, where we “adopted” dorms and transformed them into homes. As always, things like that are both rewarding and challenging. Volunteering gives me the opportunity to give back but also helps me develop skills and increase my knowledge and experience.

Last semester I won the Chancellor’s Award at SOOIE’s Student Involvement Award Banquet for completing 50+ volunteering hours, and while I don’t volunteer because I want some kind of prize, it feels good to be recognized for your effort.
