“This summer I was a social and emotional learning intern and camp counselor at Rockbrook camp for girls located in Brevard, North Carolina. As camp counselor and intern I lived with a small group of girls ages 11-13 serving as their teacher and leader, interacting with them continuously. Also, I helped them navigate the social and emotional landscape of a small community. In addition, I had to teach an activity. I chose to teach dance. Through my dance classes I was able to provide a space where the girls would learn something different from home. Overall, this experience was fun, and I learned new behavioral management strategies to apply on my career path”
